The people of Los Angeles County approved Measure M. As a result of the revenue that would be generated from this proposition, the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority (Metro) will be able to implement the Long Range Transportation Plan that would fund about 30 transit projects.
Measure M would generate an estimated $120 billion over four decades for the Metro’s big infrastructural projects, such as Airport Metro Connector, Purple Line Extension to Westwood, High Desert Corridor, Gold Line Foothill Extension to Claremont, and Sepulveda Pass.
Once the half-cent sales tax increase starts in July 1, 2017, revenue will also flow to all 88 cities in Los Angeles County for local projects such as sidewalk improvements and pothole repairs.
Many properties for these projects will be acquired through the use of eminent domain. The Metro is looking ahead and is using its expert teams to protect and further its own interests. It is only prudent for property and business owners along the way to do the same.
